The Albright celebrates 40 years on the Pier

SM Daily Press:  This month The Albright will not just be celebrating the New Year but also their 40th anniversary and owners Greg and Yunnie Morena are taking pride in their title as the longest running restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier.

When the restaurant opened in 1977 it was named Santa Monica Pier Seafood, and owned and by Yunnie’s parents who emigrated to the U.S. from Korea.

Yunnie and Greg, both Santa Monica natives took over the family business in 2013 as Yunnie’s mother felt it was her time to retire and pass down the family business. Since then the couple modernized the look, but still able to preserve the original atmosphere. They felt the need for a new name and decided on, The Albright, referring to the nautical Albright Knot, which symbolizes two generations of a local family business.

Self-Guided Tour of Santa Monica’s Vintage + Resale Shops – Tis the Season to Buy Local!  

Reuse is the highest form of recycling.  Get ready for a day of vintage shopping that’s fun, environmentally sustainable and affordable!  The Buy Local SM Committee has created a fun self-guided tour of Santa Monica's vintage and thrift stores (download below).  You can do the tour by bike, foot, public transit or a combo of the above!

Here’s an idea of what to you may find on your excursion: designer vintage handbags (think Chanel, LV + Coach!), jewelry & accessories (tres chic!), scarves to reuse as gift wrapping, antique silverware & china to dress up the holiday dinner table, beautiful coffee table books, vases that go perfectly with a bouquet of fresh flowers & holiday cd’s & puzzles for everyone to enjoy together!  We’ve also included a few shops that feature gift items made with reused products.

54 Businesses Pledge to Support 24 Local Charities for 3rd Annual Buy Local Give Local Week

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — To the now famous phrase, eat, pray, love, we should also add ‘give’ and ‘shop.’ Residents of Santa Monica can join in these efforts all to the mutual benefit of the entire community on October 15, 2016 for the 3rdAnnual Buy Local Give Local Week.  The event kicks off with a day focused on local restaurants with the inaugural Eat2Give charity fundraiser on Saturday, October 15. Eat2Give will connect the Santa Monica community with over 24 local charities and 32 Santa Monica food and beverage venues to create a delicious and philanthropic experience.
