The delicious evolution of Santa Monica

Forbes.com:  Although enveloped into the greater Los Angeles metro area, Santa Monica has long existed in its own cozy, little beach bubble. It's got the sun, it's got the sand, but until relatively recently it didn't offer visitors very much of anything else. You'd come to soak up the sights, people watch along the pier, and then perhaps brave the traffic back to whatever part of town offered more reliable high end food and lodging. Not anymore. The Santa Monica of 2018 is suddenly a premiere destination not just for tourists, but for Southern Californian gourmands in search of a weekend staycation right in their own backyard. What gives?
