Picnic on the Promenade

Fridays (between July 7 - August 25, 2017)

Location:  1300 Block Third Street Promenade

12 - 6 p.m.

Escape from the cubicle and enjoy a meal at Downtown Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade with the return of everyone’s favorite Summer lunch series Picnic on the Promenade. Ease into the weekend every Friday in July and August with classic board games, Ping-Pong tables, giant Jenga and Connect4. A DJ will be spinning smooth grooves to help you digest the stresses of the work week. Bring your lunch or grab-and-go from one of Downtown’s celebrated eateries and soak in the sun.

Location:  Margo's on Montana, corner of MT Avenue + 16th St

Join us for our monthly Handlebar Happy Hour where we'll be celebrating bicycling with our Bike Local Santa Monica partners - SM SPOKE + friends - at some of our favorite Buy Local SM bars + restaurants! 

This month we're heading to Margo's on Montana Avenue to enjoy their Social Hour drinks and bites.  Alll are welcome!

Buy Local Health + Fitness Festival

Location:  Reed Park, 1133 7th St (corner of 7th + Wilshire/CA)

Time:  11 am - 4 pm

The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Buy Local SM Committee and the City of Santa Monica are pleased to present the Buy Local Health and Fitness Festival at Reed Park on September 9th from 11am to 4pm to promote a healthy and happy lifestyle for the entire Santa Monica community.  This free event brings together our local businesses, services and non-profits for a fun filled day while raising awareness about the economic, environmental and community benefits of thinking local first.

Enjoy Pop up shops and food vendors from every neighborhood. Take a selfie with therapy dogs, learn to do the Cha-cha, chat with doctors from the top hospitals in town and vote for your favorite Fitness Trainer competing for the title of Santa Monica’s Finest Trainer!

The event’s lead sponsors are the City of Santa Monica, Kaiser Permanente, Providence Saint John’s Health Center, and Santa Monica Travel and Tourism. The event is in partnership with Santa Monica Classic 5K/10K Run, Santa Monica Malibu Education Foundation, Main Street Business Improvement Association, Montana Avenue Merchants Association, Pico Improvement Organization, and Downtown Santa Monica Inc.

COAST - City of Santa Monica's Open Streets Festival

10 am - 4 pm

LOCATION:  Ocean Avenue (from Wilshire to Colorado);  Main Street (from Colorado to Marine); & Colorado Esplanade (from 5th Street to and including the Pier)

On October 1st, everyone is encouraged to bike, bus, train or walk their way to COAST, a free, engaging and fun way to explore their city.   

COAST isn’t a race or a sporting event, but rather the chance to discover Santa Monica at eye level on foot, bike, scooter, stroller, rollerblades, skateboard, wheelchair or any of the other myriad of options available when we are car free.

COAST engages the community through experiential mobility, sustainability and art zones. You’ll find that local businesses, organizations, community groups, and City departments are actively involved in the citywide event. Discover local food, music, shops, culture, dance, and games with family and friends.  For more info:  www.smgov.net/COAST

How to get involved:

For businesses along the route:  Local businesses along the route are invited to participate! Main Street, Ocean Avenue & Colorado Esplanade businesses are invited to contact the festival organizers with any question

For businesses off the route:  Santa Monica businesses not located along the route can participate by offering a “COAST Special,” or donating give-aways to our Buy Local SM Booth @ COAST. To participate, contact: www.buylocalsantamonica.com/coast-2017-signup

For community + local environmental organizations:   Qualified Santa Monica based organizations, Santa Monica non-profit service providers or City-supported organizations are invited to apply to have a presence on the route. See smgov.net/coast for criteria and more information
