Buy Local offers/ products/ services: The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium is Heal the Bay’s marine education facility, which inspires understanding and conservation of Southern California coastal waters, watersheds and marine life through education, interaction and discovery. Located beach-level, just below the Carousel at the Santa Monica Pier, the Aquarium is open to the general public Friday-Sunday (Fall & Winter Hours) and attracts nearly 100,000 visitors per year.

Over its 13 years of operation, the Aquarium has welcomed more than one million visitors during public hours, and in-house education programs have reached close to 200,000 students. More than 100 species of marine animals are on exhibit at the Aquarium - and all are from the Santa Monica Bay. Visitors, young and old, enjoy hands-on exploration at the touch tanks, which are home to dozens of different species of animals - visitors on Friday afternoons are also invited to help feed the sea stars. Popular shark-themed Sundays include a 3:30 p.m. weekly presentation and feeding at the shark exhibit. The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium also provides an unforgettable setting for your child’s birthday. Invite up to 25 children and their families to our Aquarium for a two-hour birthday party for your child–it’s the next best thing to actually being under the sea. Plush toys and apparel are available for purchase from our Gift Shop. Your purchase supports the care of our local marine life, science education throughout LA County, and ocean conservation along our California coastline.
