Senator Ben Allen Honors The Albright at the 2019 California Small Business Day

SM Daily Press:  Senator Ben Allen (D – Santa Monica) has named The Albright as Small Business of the Year for Senate District 26. The Albright, which was chosen for its commitment to sustainability and dedication to the Santa Monica community, received the award at a Sacramento luncheon sponsored by the California Small Business Association on Wednesday, June 19.

California Small Business Day 2019 honored 82 small businesses for their contributions to the state’s economy. Small business contributes to 75% of California’s gross domestic product and over half of the state’s private sector jobs. From hardware stores to manufacturers, small businesses are stalwarts of California’s communities and its economy.  Read more >

The Albright celebrates 40 years on the Pier

SM Daily Press:  This month The Albright will not just be celebrating the New Year but also their 40th anniversary and owners Greg and Yunnie Morena are taking pride in their title as the longest running restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier.

When the restaurant opened in 1977 it was named Santa Monica Pier Seafood, and owned and by Yunnie’s parents who emigrated to the U.S. from Korea.

Yunnie and Greg, both Santa Monica natives took over the family business in 2013 as Yunnie’s mother felt it was her time to retire and pass down the family business. Since then the couple modernized the look, but still able to preserve the original atmosphere. They felt the need for a new name and decided on, The Albright, referring to the nautical Albright Knot, which symbolizes two generations of a local family business.
