Self-Guided Tour of Santa Monica’s Vintage + Resale Shops – Tis the Season to Buy Local!  

Reuse is the highest form of recycling.  Get ready for a day of vintage shopping that’s fun, environmentally sustainable and affordable!  The Buy Local SM Committee has created a fun self-guided tour of Santa Monica's vintage and thrift stores (download below).  You can do the tour by bike, foot, public transit or a combo of the above!

Here’s an idea of what to you may find on your excursion: designer vintage handbags (think Chanel, LV + Coach!), jewelry & accessories (tres chic!), scarves to reuse as gift wrapping, antique silverware & china to dress up the holiday dinner table, beautiful coffee table books, vases that go perfectly with a bouquet of fresh flowers & holiday cd’s & puzzles for everyone to enjoy together!  We’ve also included a few shops that feature gift items made with reused products.

Bike Attack Opens New Electric Bike Store on 2904 Main St

Bike Attack Santa Monica, a popular bike retailer in Santa Monica, opens a new Electric Bike Shop on historic Main Street on Saturday February 21st, close to it’s original location. Bike Attack Electric+ took the space of former’s Optical Shop of Aspen on 2904 Main Street, corner of Ashland. This is the third Bike Attack store in the area. Bike Attack announced that their new business partner is film veteran Albert Cho, AD of Fast & Furious, Furious 7, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr. And Mrs. Smith just to name a few. Albert Cho is also a long time cyclist and good friend of Ericson Monsalud.

Santa Monica's Main Street and Broadway to Get Green Bike Lanes  

SM Lookout:  Santa Monica will likely see its network of green bike lanes expand if the City Council approves a half-million dollar contract Tuesday for Chrisp Company to build them.  While Broadway and Main Street, the two bike thoroughfares identified by City Hall for the project, already have bike lanes, officials hope that the new bright green lanes will improve visibility and make riding along those streets more comfortable for cyclists.
