Wellbeing Fest Reaches New Heights--Health & Fitness Event Returns Bigger at New Location

Westside Today:  The annual Health & Fitness Festival returned Saturday Sept. 9 to Santa Monica, this year at its new Christina Reed Emerson Park location. Each year, the event, which is co-produced by the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Buy Local Santa Monica and the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation, invites local businesses and organizations to come together for a community event focused on the wellbeing of Santa Monica locals.

Kick off the Buy Local Health & Fitness Festival with a Walk with the Mayor

SM Daily Press:  This Saturday September 9th, get your blood flowing before the Buy Local Health and Fitness Festival by joining Mayor Ted Winterer on a two-mile loop walk around the neighborhood, which will be led by Adopt-A-Walk. Adopt-A-Walk is a health advocacy organization passionate about creating and promoting walking friendly communities to improve the health of the people in the community in a fun and easy way.

Bergamot Plans Move Forward

SM Daily Press:  Plans to redevelop the Bergamot Station arts complex remain track once following approval of a plan at the June 13 Council Meeting.

On Tuesday, the City Council voted to approve a preliminary plan that preserves several existing buildings, protects current tenants and extends an exclusive negotiating agreement with the developer, the Worthe Real Estate Group. A controversial hotel remains part of the project.

The Council’s vote locked in long-term protections for existing art galleries and arts-related tenants by tying rent increases to the Consumer Price Index for the next three years. Read more >

SMDP:  On Tuesday, May 2, City Manager, Rick Cole along with residents and local businesses gathered around City Hall to celebrate the Most Loved ceremony. Winners were announced and formally recognized with a certification and an award plaque.

The 4th Annual Most Loved Santa Monica Business Contest is organized by Buy Local Santa Monica. The goal of the campaign is to celebrate local businesses and put a spotlight on some of the best practices in customer service.  Read more >
