About the contest:

YOU VOTED, WE LISTENED!  The "Most Loved Santa Monica" Contest was launched in 2014 by the Buy Local Santa Monica Committee and the Santa Monica Daily Press.  Now in its 3rd year, the contest has grown by leaps and bounds.  We invited our residents of all ages, local employees and visitors to participate.  From most loved bike shop to the favorite Santa Monica Farmers Markets' vendor, we put the call out to discover and celebrate the Most Loved Businesses in Santa Monica.  We wanted to know which businesses our locals can't live without, which ones put smiles on their faces when they drop in, the ones we most want to celebrate because they're so awesome.  In 2016, nearly 3,400 people responded by voting for their Most Loved (a three-fold increase from 2014!).

MOST LOVED SANTA MONICA CONTEST RULES:  1)  Results were derived from voting that took place during the month of February via an online Survey Monkey survey.  2) The top vote getter was named the winner of the category and the runners-up were the businesses with the 2nd and 3rd highest vote totals in the categories. 3) The businesses must be located in the City of Santa Monica (with the exception of the Most Loved SM Farmers Market Vendors, who operate within the City's weekly farmers markets) and have valid City of SM business licenses.  4) Businesses are not allowed to win more than two categories.  In the event a business has won more than two categories, their highest two vote totals were used to determine the categories they won.  5) Results were tabulated by the Most Loved SM Committee, which included representatives of the BIDs, SM Farmers Market, SMDP, SM Pier, City and Chamber (but not for "their" categories to avoid any conflicts).  Results were then verified by the Buy Local SM Executive Committee.
