Currently we have 194 communities in 29 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than 21,000 people call an RHF community “home”.

Senior citizens of the Wilshire House have been involved in a community service endeavor through Project H.A.N.D.S. (Helping Angels National Donated Support), a program created by the Retirement Housing Foundation to encourage residents to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and to give back to their respective communities. The project encourages residents to knit, crochet, and sew various items that are to be donated to children’s shelters and battered women’s shelters. Want to host a Bike Local Handlebar Happy Hour?

Each month our Bike Local Santa Monica Committee (Buy Local + SM Spoke bike advocacy partners) organizes a #BikeLocalSM Handlebar Happy Hour event to spotlight a Buy Local SM restaurant, bar or pub.  There's no cost to host the event - you just need to offer a happy hour special for the duration (5:30-7 pm) and be able to set aside a small gathering area for our group (15-30 people) to sit, eat and socialize.  These events are held on the last week of every month (alternating Weds + Thurs) .  We promote these events via our Santa Monica SPOKE + Buy Local SM social media, newsletter + websites.  They're really fun community gatherings + a great way to promote your business to locals!  If you're interesting in hosting an upcoming #HBHH, email Jennifer at BuyLocalSM@smgov.net or call (310) 458-2201 ext. 6315.

Want to increase revenue + beautify your storefront or building?

Murals increase traffic and add beauty to the community.  To date, BE has transformed over 50 walls in Santa Monica.  Want to be next?....

BeautifyEarth (BE), a 501(c)3, is the locally-founded, movement-oriented organization putting an end to blighted and bland walls around town... You may have noticed some changes in two of their focus areas, Lincoln Blvd and Pico Blvd.  They have also painted the latest murals on Main Street, Broadway, and Santa Monica Blvd, making quite an impressive impact on the fabric of Santa Monica’s streetscapes.  The results speak for themselves.  Businesses with artistic facades have reported seeing an increase in revenue almost immediately, time and time again. It also promotes reduced traffic by creating a walkable environment, deters graffiti, and helps beautify our town centers/commercial districts.  It’s easy to participate in a variety of ways:

Here’s how you can get involved:

1. IDENTIFY YOUR EXTERIOR WALL TO BE BEAUTIFIED - If you have a wall (or other public facing facade) that you know could use a fresh artistic look and bring greater inspiration to your community, please let BE know here.  You will be able to work with them and their expansive artist network on a mural, pattern, or design of your taste.

2. Paint It Forward - Allows individuals and business to sponsor a wall in their community, and give back by investing in their community. This directly funds the beautification and art application.  March Capital, a local venture capital firm, sponsored this inspiring mural (below) on Main St, which is now featured on www.SantaMonica.com.

If you would like to get involved in some other capacity with BE, please

  1. “Follow” them on Instagram
  2. “Follow” and “like” them on Facebook
  3. Fill out their volunteer form

Let's Beautify Santa Monica! Please contact BE if you would like to support the City, support their cause, and help do our part in making our city even more awesome!

Recent Wall Sponsors include: Farhang Foundation - 5 future walls coming soon!  Atta Tarki @ Exconsultantsagency.com - Bubble Beach mural coming soon!  ProAudio LA - TRiP Bar mural by Blake Byers.  March Capital - “Anything Can Happen...Anything Can BE” Books and Cookies mural by Ruben Rojas.  Ocean Park Association - “You Are Beautiful” Surf Liquor mural by Spencer ‘Mar’ Guilburt + Ruben Rojas.

(First image is the mural @ 3015 Pico Blvd featuring Luca Zamoc.  Ameritech Signs provided their wall.  Pico Improvement Organization joined BE's Paint it Forward to sponsor six new murals and counting on Pico Blvd.  Great partnership!  Second image is the mural @ 2309 Main St by local artist Ruben Rojas.  Book and Cookies provided their wall.  March Capital sponsored the wall via BE’s Paint it Forward campaign.)
